Vanity Tops Review
Much attention is put on kitchen countertops, but vanity tops are also an important feature of any home. This guide will help you choose the best countertop material for your vanity. Vanity countertops are exposed to water, cosmetics, soap, nail polish and heat from curling irons on a daily basis. When selecting a countertop material for your vanity, you should consider how much care, cleaning and maintenance you are willing to invest. Some materials are literally maintenance-free while others require more upkeep. Another consideration is price. Granite, quartz and marble countertops are in the higher price range, while tile and laminate are in the lower price range.
GRANITE VANITY COUNTERTOPS
If you are looking for an upscale look, granite vanity countertops are a great choice. They look slick and there are a great many colors to choose from to match your bathroom colors. Granite is durable, heat and scratch resistant and low maintenance so it will do a great job resisting heat from a curling iron as well as resisting spills from cosmetics, soaps and toothpaste. Even though it is one of the more expensive countertop materials, its durability, ease of care and natural beauty make it all worth while. Plus, upgrading your bathroom with granite vanity top will add value to your home. The only disadvantage of granite countertops is that they need to be sealed periodically to prevent staining.

MARBLE VANITY COUNTERTOPS
Marble countertops are beautiful and sure to make a statement in any home. Some homeowners won’t settle for anything else than marble countertops and it’s easy to understand why – marble countertops are beautifully unique and radiant. Aside from its beauty, marble is one the pricier material for countertops and requires a substantial amount of upkeep. Since marble is a porous material which stains and scratches more easily than granite or quartz, marble countertops need to be sealed often to keep their appearance to their best.
QUARTZ VANITY COUNTERTOPS
The popularity of quartz countertops has exploded over the past decade. Quartz vanity countertops are great looking, come in a large variety of colors and style and they are the easiest to take care of – they are virtually maintenance-free. Quartz vanity countertops are highly durable, easy to clean, low maintenance and water resistant. They are also heat resistant, but keep in mind that the binder used to bind the quartz together has a resin base which is susceptible to heat. Quartz is one of the more expensive countertop materials but considering how beautiful, durable and easy to take care of a quartz countertop is, it is really a bargain.

OTHER TYPES OF VANITY TOP MATERIALS
There are a variety of other materials used for vanity countertops such as tile, laminate, cultured marble, stainless steal and wood. Even though those materials cost less than quartz, granite and marble, all of them require more upkeep. Laminate, cultured marble and wood vanity tops are not heat resistant and scratch easily. The grout used for tile countertops is a magnet for gunk and can easily discolor and develop mildew.
