Modern farmhouse kitchens have been popular the past few years and that style of kitchen is still very much in demand in 2022. To successfully achieve that look in your home, the space you create should be warm, inviting, cozy with simple finishes and unpretentious designs. A modern farmhouse kitchen looks better when the spacing in generous with a large island and/or farmhouse dining table. Original farmhouses had many people working the farm. Once done for the day, they would gather altogether to eat a meal in the kitchen. Large eating space was important for working farms.
The type of finishes and materials you use to accessorize your kitchen is also important: reclaimed wood, marble countertops, wire and glass, hanging pots and pans and rough iron will create an authentic and rustic-looking farmhouse kitchen.
Below we go over some ideas you can implement in your kitchen, from cheap to expensive to transform it into a modern farmhouse kitchen you will be proud to showcase to your friends and family.

Seasonal flower arrangements
Bringing the outside in is a key feature of a modern farmhouse kitchen. If you lived in a farm, you would bring the harvest of the day in the kitchen to make a meal. Seasonal flowers in a rustic container atop countertops is a nice touch to create that farmhouse style kitchen. Glass jars with dry herbs like oregano, lavender, rosemary or even dry flowers used in cooking, set on open shelves for the eyes to see and easy access to cooking goods and wares are an essential part of a modern farmhouse style kitchen.
Open Shelves
Open shelves is common in modern farmhouse kitchen. The concept is simple and makes it easy to grab what you need to cook in the kitchen. Open shelves are a great space to showcase copper pots and pants, white plates, flowers, painting and anything else that adds to the overall style of your kitchen. Rather than hiding things away, open shelves allow for displaying things that are beautiful and useful. But be careful not to put out too many things that would crowd the space and distract the eyes from key elements in your kitchen.

Flooring
Going with rustic hardwood floors, preferably made from reclaimed wood planks or tile flooring are a great choice to create that modern farmhouse kitchen style. While hardwood floors with nice hues, wood grain and color contrast will create a rustic look that is warm and welcoming, tile flooring might be the better choice for your flooring as wood is susceptible to moisture and temperature differences and needs much more upkeep and attention than ceramic tiles. For busy kitchens, tiles are the better choice.
Structural Elements
Exposed wood beams is one of the design elements found in most modern farmhouse kitchens. Whether they are structural and functional wood beams or decorative (nobody will ever know unless you tell them), they add a rustic touch to a kitchen. Metal and industrial looking pendant lighting with contrasting ceiling colors will complete the rustic farmhouse look you are wanting to achieve.

Farm House Sink
No modern farmhouse kitchen would be complete without a farmhouse style sink, also called an apron sink. Your sink should have a deep, wide basin, preferably made of white porcelain, even though it could be made of stainless steel or another type of metal. Apron sinks are very much utility sinks in which lots of vegetables can we washed and deep pots can be filled with water. The faucet should match the style of the kitchen, preferably brass or stainless steel.
Cabinetry
One of the main features of modern farmhouse kitchens has been white shaker kitchen cabinets. But the modern farmhouse style kitchen is evolving to include other colors than white including earth tones and soft color cabinets that contrast with white marble countertops . Paneling and/or shiplap on walls is also a nice way to contrast cabinetry with white or creamy walls.

Dining Area
The dining table in a farmhouse kitchen should be large, offering plenty of sitting. Having a bench or a cosy banquette resting against a wall and window is nice look not only to eat meals, but also to work on projects or simply hangout while looking out the backyard through the window.
